Selfless by Hyram UK: Everything you need to know about the new skincare line from Hyram Yarbro
Selfless by Hyram is the new skincare line from YouTube star Hyram Yarbro, powered by expertise from The Inkey List
A s celebrity skincare lines go, few are as well-thought out and socially conscious as the new line from YouTube star, Hyram Yarbro. Yarbro is the 25-year-old influencer behind the YouTube channel Hyram and his videos are aimed at helping people understand how different ingredients affect our skin.
It began in 2017 and has since soared in popularity to the point where the influencer has amassed a following of almost 5 million people. The success recently attracted the attention of renowned skincare brand, The Inkey List, and between them, they have developed a new range called Selfless by Hyram.
Here we explain more about the products and their ingredients, plus where to buy Selfless by Hyram skincare.
Selfless by Hyram skincare
A skincare line from Hyram has been in the works for a while, having been demanded by his fans and being teased by the YouTuber himself. Obviously, not being a trained dermatologist (which has led to some criticism of Yarbro and his brand) he needed to partner with a brand with that expertise. And that’s where The Inkey List comes in.
If you’re not familiar with The Inkey List, the brand was founded in 2018 by Colette Laxton and Mark Curry. It was said to have been born from a belief that better knowledge powers better decisions and was designed to be the antithesis to complicated beauty and skincare lines.
With this in mind, it’s entirely ingredient-led and each product removes as much bullshit as possible. Even the packaging is white and black and simple. Selfless by Hyram takes on at least some of these ideals.
All of the products are “effective, gentle, and non-irritating” and use what the brand calls “high-performing Earth-conscious ingredients.”
Each one is formulated “to deliver visible results without excess active ingredients” and Hyram claims that the way they built the range and the products is unique because it started with social impact first.
Within this, every purchase from the Selfless by Hyram range contributes to a number of good causes that the young entrepreneur wants to champion. Over the next 12 months, the brand has committed to protecting 2,500 acres of tropical forest from deforestation through its partnership with Rainforest Trust, storing more than 370,000 tonnes of C02.
And through Thirst Project, the brand wants to help projects in 60 communities in Eswatini, Africa, providing access to clean water to over 35,000 people for 50 years.

Selfless by Hyram skincare products
The range is relatively small, in comparison to some celebrity lines and established collections from the likes of The Inkey List, and at launch, it consists of five skincare staples. If you’re unsure what each of these does, or what products you need, check out our Men’s skincare routine guide.
- Centella & Green Tea Hydrating Gel Cleanser
- Retinol & Rainbow Algae Repair Serum
- Mandelic Acid & Rice Bran Gentle Exfoliating Serum
- Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp Pore Clearing and Oil Control Serum
- Niacinamide & Maracujá Daily Barrier Support Moisturiser
Prices range from £18 up to £28 for the individual products, or you can buy the complete set for £114. You don’t save any money by buying the collection, but Selfless by Hyram will match your purchase by giving the same amount of money to its charitable causes. This initiative, which the brand is calling Double Impact, is for a limited time only.
Centella & Green Tea Hydrating Gel Cleanser
A cleanser, in our view, is the most important step of any skincare routine and this gel cleanser promises to leave your skin feeling fresh without stripping it of its natural oils. It contains 3% Centella Asiatica Complex, which helps to soothe the skin, while the addition of 5% Green Tea complex is there to calm and reduce redness. It then contains a staggering 14.5% glycerin to hydrate your skin.
Selfless by Hyram description: “Our gentle daily gel cleanser is easy to use, suitable for all, and effectively cleanses the skin without drying or stripping. It contains an antioxidant-packed duo of Green Tea and Centella, plus hydrating Glycerin, in a pH balanced (5.5-5.7) formula. Washes away the day, leaving skin feeling refreshed, clean, and makeup-free.”
How to use: Massage a small amount of this gel cleanser onto dampened face and neck for around 30 seconds every morning and night, getting it into the creases around your nose and especially to the edges of your face and chin. Rinse with warm (but never hot) water.

Retinol & Rainbow Algae Repair Serum
This serum has been designed to help balance hyperpigmentation, even skin tone and reduce the appearance of breakouts. It’s also a great anti-ageing product thanks to the use of retinol, which shouldn’t cause irritation because it’s present in a very small amount. The active ingredients in this cleanser include 0.2% Retinol, 0.15% Rainbow Algae extract, 2% Tranexamic Acid and 4% squalane. The latter is particularly good at hydrating the skin.
Selfless by Hyram description: “Gentle, slow-release Retinol, nutrient-rich Rainbow Algae, and Tranexamic Acid work together overnight to help reduce the appearance of post-breakout marks and target hyperpigmentation, providing a more even skin tone with a smoother, brighter complexion.”
How to use: Selfless by Hyram recommends applying four-five drops every evening after cleansing. It’s formulated to be gentle but, as is the case when introducing any new products to your routine (particularly those which contain retinol), it’s worth adding it in gradually twice to three times a week before building up to daily use.

Mandelic Acid & Rice Bran Gentle Exfoliating Serum
Another serum, but this one is designed to gently exfoliate the skin by buffing away dead skin cells, clearing pores, and leaving your skin looking smooth and clear. It contains 3% Mandelic Acid, which gently exfoliates the skin, 2.5% Gluconolactone which exfoliates and adds moisture, 0.5% Phytic Acid (Rice Bran) which exfoliates while helping to control oil, and 0.5% Salicylic Acid which gets rid of bumpy skin and unclogs pores.
The combination of these ingredients stimulates and encourages new skin cells to form, which helps your complexion look fresh and clear.
Selfless by Hyram description: “Our don’t over exfoliate exfoliator. An innovative, multifunctional chemical exfoliant that exfoliates the skin effectively but gently, delivering results without irritation.”
How to use: This exfoliator should be used after cleansing and in the evening only. Every other day, apply three to four drops onto your face and neck and pat it gently into the skin. The use of acids means that it can make your skin more at risk from sun damage, which is why it’s not advisable for you to use this in the morning. You also should avoid using it in the same routine as other exfoliating products or retinol. So don’t use this with the Rainbow serum in the Selfless by Hyram collection.

Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp Pore Clearing and Oil Control Serum
The third serum in the Selfless by Hyram collection and this one is best used by people prone to acne and breakouts. It contains the same 0.5% Salicylic Acid found in the exfoliating serum, which helps to unclog pores, but adds 5% niacinamide to reduce oiliness and refine your pores. Elsewhere, it uses 2% Succinic Acid to reduce bacteria and prevent future breakouts as well as 0.99% Sea Kelp to repair your skin’s barrier, protect from pollutant stress and prevent hydration loss
Selfless by Hyram description: “This breakout-busting oil control serum contains super ingredients Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide to help reduce oiliness and unclog pores without over-drying, while Succinic Acid helps reduce bacteria to help prevent breakouts. The addition of Sea Kelp helps protect from pollutant stress, aids barrier repair, and prevents hydration loss.”
How to use: This serum is to be used in the morning, after cleansing. Shake the bottle before use and apply three to five drops to your face and neck, to target affected areas. Follow with moisturiser.

Niacinamide & Maracujá Daily Barrier Support Moisturiser
This moisturiser has a gel-cream texture that’s been designed to sink into the skin and leave it feeling silky without the use of silicone – an ingredient that’s often criticised for clogging pores and causing problems. It does this by combining 5% niacinamide, 1% Maracujá Seed Oil, which promotes the skin healing process by supporting damaged or weakened skin, 0.19% Madecassoside to soothe sensitive skin and 1% Murumu Seed Butter.
Selfless by Hyram description: “Your daily skin support for happier healthier skin. A combination of barrier strengthening Niacinamide and bioactive, skin-soothing Maracujá, plus a host of hydrating extras.”
How to use: For best results, Selfless by Hyram recommends using this moisturiser morning and night, every day. After cleansing and serums, massage a pea-sized amount onto your face and neck and follow with sunscreen in the morning.
